Communications Plan:
The aim of this communications plan is to educate residents of the city about the Little Burgundy redevelopment project. Five blogs will outline the benefits of this plan.
Blog 1: Outline the Project
The first blog post will outline the scope of the project, why it is important, who will be affected, and a brief description of what residents can expect. The blog will include building specifications, a finances overview, infrastructure upgrade plans, and a general overview of the project.
Blog 2: Demonstrate Need
The second blog post will emphasize the need for increased capacity and the need for affordable units in a growing city. The blog will highlight the housing crises and include statistics about housing shortages.
Blog 3: Explain the Process for Residents
The third blog post will explain to current residents (along with any other interested parties) the exact process for relocation. The blog will outline the time frame for moving, incentives, assistance, and social programs available. It will also emphasize how beneficial the project will be in the long-term for both the residents and the community. Relocated residents will receive priority upon construction completion.
Blog 4: Details, Details, Details
This blog will delve into the minute details of the project and include detailed renderings of the final project.
Blog 5: The First Step
This final blog will highlight key points from the previous four posts and will show how this development is the first step towards a better Montreal. Future, similar projects will be outlined and why they are important to cultivating a prosperous, dynamic city.
Content Calendar:
Because of the importance of all information contained in blogs, they will be released in a prompt fashion so people can best understand the project and its aims. The blogs will be posted as follows:
April 5, 8:00am: Blog 1 – Outline the Project
April 7, 8:00am: Blog 3 – Explain the Process for Residents
April 15, 8:00am: Blog 2 – Demonstrate Need
April 20, 8:00am: Blog 4 – Details, Details, Details
April 30, 8:00am: Blog 5 – The First Step
After all blogs have been posted, the City’s social media will post a summary of the blog topics with associated links on a weekly basis for one month after the last blog is posted. After that, a monthly post with links will be posted.
Audience Feeback and Engagement:
Gauging audience feedback will be based on post comments, as well as how many write-in emails, phone calls, and/or letters the City receives.
This project is bound to be controversial for some groups of people. Gauging reactions and any backlash will be an important step in ensuring all voices are heard and their concerns are addressed. If there is little to no feedback on posts, it will indicate that the exposure needs improvement. Perhaps a different time of day or day of the week would change the engagement.
Justification:
The blog campaign will demonstrate to the people of Montreal that the City has a well-researched, detailed plan for all aspects of the project. By crafting five blogs that cover all aspects of the project and the ramifications, the City is being transparent about the project’s impact, both positive and negative.
